Earn an industry-recognized qualification through the AWS – WSET Level 2 Award in Wines

This WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner to intermediate level qualification for enthusiasts who are seeking a core understanding of wine.

You will explore the major grape varieties and important wine regions in which they are grown, and learn about the styles of wines produced from these grapes, as well as key qualifications and labeling terminology.

Course Overview:

This is a hybrid course, where most instruction and study is done on-line, with access to the instructor, in advance of the May 9 in-person course review and exam. You will be enrolled in one of the online courses March 23-April 26.

The AWS member price of $425 includes all of the study materials, examination fees and certificates. The non-member price of $474 includes materials, exam fees, certificates and a 1-year individual membership in the American Wine Society. A resit for the exam is available for $100.

You will receive:

  • A WSET study guide on which to make notes and to take home
  • May 9 course review and examination, with 50 multiple choice questions and a 60-minute limit. A mark of 55% is required to pass.
  • Certification – those who pass will be issued a certificate suitable for framing and a lapel pin.

Please review WSET course policies and the Specifications for the Course

Completion of WSET Wine Level 1 is not required. Participation in the WSET program is open to AWS members. Those who cancel 15 days or more before the course start date will receive a full refund. In the event a course is cancelled, registrants will receive a full refund of the course fee. If you have a disability or health problem that interferes with your use of housing, and if your request is reasonable, you may request an accommodation by emailing directoreducation@americanwinesociety.org.
